Is anyone good at sharpening photos please?

Can someone do anything to improve/sharpen this picture a friend has emailed me that is of her uncle, aunt and grandma that she took with her (not very good) phone and she thought I might be able to sharpen it but I know you guys are cleverer than me!

Problem is, as soon as you sharpen it you bring out the 'noise' in the picture and it looks awful. There's only so much you can do with a bad picture but you are prob best leaving it as is. I've had a go but I only make it look worse, lol!

Because a camera or a photoshop as you are requesting, is a form of technology.

but as said, such an awful picture you wont make any real difference.

yes i did, it is clearly a request to improve your picture in quality and deserves to stay in the technology section. tbh, i am surprised you knew this forum existed since you post all of your technologoy threads in gc.

I tried to fix it, but it looks awful. Ive changed it very very slighty, any more "sharpening" and it just gets worse!

Incidently, whats grandma up to with her hand?

I despeckled it via photoshop and it looked clearer and smoother again, but for some reason it wasnt letting me cut and paste the edited version??

Haha I ask Clare about the 'wandering' hand!! I hadn't noticed it before!!
Can't you save your edited version on Photobucket for me to see if it's any better please?
