Is dephaser pulley part of the cambelt kit?

  RB Clio 182 Cup
If not is there any point replacing it when the cambelt is done? Is its wearing out more dependant on mileage than time?

It seems quite expensive on its own, something like £135 :S

no, not part of the kit. It's a fairly substantial part, there's far worse cost wise for what you get. a lower aux idler is over £50 on it's own, now that really is expansive

I haven't got any, was just wondering if anyone thought it was worth doing as preventive maintenance.

i wouldn't if there's no problem. a good clean out is a vital part of the cambelt change process IMO, and it seems to do pretty well at keeping things fresh

yea i found that out yesterday mines screwed. sounds like a bag of spanners lol.

how does oil changes extend the life of the dephaser pulley? its on the outside of the engine so shouldn't come into contact with oil, or is there internal components aswel?
