is it normal for a 172 to use water

can any one please tell me if its normal for a 172 03 reg to use a little water :dapprove: i have to top it up about every 3 weeks or so

i'd say not, i never did add any water in a year and i checked most weeks

ive only ever had to top up my water when i put on my new coolant hoses on

it doesn't use alot when i say top it up im only talking less than a half a pint to take it back to the maximum mark

mine needs topping up ever 2 months or so about 10ml on expansion tank, just evaopration i guess

No it shouldn't use any water so its leaking somewhere. If you can't find anything hose related i'd look at the waterpump.

the water pump has been changed. will take it back to the garage get them to take a look

Check the radiator, mine has a minute hole and needs topping up every 6 weeks. You can see a mark on the radiator where the coolant has leaked.

Mines a 53 plate and the radiator went a month after getting it last october. Cost the AA £350 to replace. Think if you shop around that would be cheaper though.
