Is it worth having an ECU remap if everything else is standard?

I have myself a 65bhp dCi and in need of a bit of more power to the good old tractor. Is it worth getting my ECU remapped even though every part is standard?

Can an ECU remap bugger up my car?
Can anyone tell its been remapped?

Cheers :D

On yours i would say its worth it with out any other mods, being a Turbo D.

It wont bugger up you car and is very difficult to read (by insurance companies you mean ?) unless they read the ECU for some reason.

Cheers Justin thanks for your help :D Does anyone know any places that are close to Derby/Burton (midlands area) as I dont fancy taking a long drive to RStuning, or K tec

Well, i think i would drive the distance for a good remap.

I once had a superchip put on my car, very local to me and it made no diff what so ever ( even though only a NA 2.0)

Then i drove from edinburgh to leeds to get Paul to remap mine and there was a much bigger difference as it is a good map. May be worth the distance, tis all.

go for it - think its 68 to 88?

be quicker than standard 80 then AND prolly much more economical

^ ^ mine went 53 to 60 almost overnight and it still gets a good whippin'

P.S; to answer questions

1) - NO only risk is clutch, but not till MUCH higher torque levels of 80 and 100 cars

2) - only re-sets a 'tiny' section of ECU (fuel), so NO

unless someone plugged in diagnostic and searched fuel setting only, impossible to spot AND even if they did, how would they read it since it's just computer code gobbledegook!!

Prof. Hawkins would struggle!

you could post your ecu and they paul will post it back usually the same day as it is received (so i am told) if you didnt fancy the drive. being a turbo diesel i'd have thought the gain would be quite good...as turbo cars usually benefit from remaps quite well...

Yep the diesels get huge gains realy.

You'd get between 80 and 90hp depenmds what you have where you go etc.

It can buggee the cluthc the gearbox and more importantly the injectros and pump depends where you go who you use etc. But at the end of the day it can do it even with good companies.

Yep 2 second aan insurance compnay can tell they just check the match in a seocnd on a PC and the numbers would show its not got the right mapping not telling insurance is a stupid idea.

Give any in insurance company 2 second the'll tell its been fiddled with there laptop. They do check as well in crashes etc. They did with me.

Stock 65 clutch can give up with remaps if there custom mapeed enough.
