Is it worth it!

I just paid 650 for a 1992 valver. Mechanically it seems ok (having it checked over tommorrow).

It was fully serviced upto 96,000 miles and has now done 112k so if i do a major service on it now its pretty well looked after.

Cosmetically its not the best and here is my question.... is it worth me replacing the bonnet and getting the rusty rear arches sorted and having the whole thing sprayed?

Any ideas how much it would cost to have done?

Your opinions would be gratefully received......most of them anyway;)

Cheers folks

Dan

well bonnet is £100 from renault, arches say £150 a seide, then about £1k to repsray it! i wouldnt think it was worth doing tbh mate! if youve got the cash to make it look mint, do it! but its not gona be worth that much when/if you sell it! unless its naples! ;)

1. why does it need a new bonnet?

2. if you do get a new bonnet your painting the wings too.

3. if your sorting your rear arches, AND your having the bonnet/wings done, you gotta have the doors done too.

4. what other mods you got in mind? while your havin the work done you could debadge? delock? colour code?

FM,

It looks as though someone has opened the bonnet on to something and put a dint in it. it might repair i suppose

i would have the whole car sprayed whatever mods. I would probably just do subtle stuff, delock & debadge.

just repair it then mate, wouldnt get a new bonnet for that. be warned tho, if the arches am pretty bad, dont be suprised if they start to bubble again in a couple of months :(

yea definatly be severe.. just get the grinder in there and take the lot out. tak some plates in if need be. and then the old trusty fibreglass.

lol i had an xr2i and under the petrol cap there was literally a hand sized hole . i used a coke can turned inside out, self tappered it, and ground the heads off. packed it with fibreglass then filler. This was like 8 months ago or so. the chap who i sold it to is a friend so i see it now and again and the rust still hasnt started to come through yet!

at work they was all callin me a bodgin lil f**ker and i cant put coke cans in cars. well.... i did.... and it worked lol

Ive got a mig welder so i am half thinking about cutting some good arches from one in the scrappers and welding them in.

I had a mini not long ago so i am a dab hand at patching things up.

at least the arches on a clio are reasonably simple. the top of a front wing on a mini however is a different story LOL
