Is it worth it?

So I've had my Clio about 18 months now. Love it. Cheap to run, does mega mpg, and it's been on a couple of track days now which albeit slow, were a hoot.

I've recently contemplated tarting it up a bit, for some more track use. However, I still need it to be a sensible daily.

Ideas included:

Fit braided brake lines (actually being done next week)
Ultra racing bracing (boot brace, rear ARB and front strut brace)
Remap (Currently 86bhp, so should see about 105bhp with any luck)

My other thought, which was commented on by my instructor at Oulton Park, was the seating arrangement. Bog standard seats in there at present, which he said I could do with replacing with bucket seats.

Now, I like this idea, but then I also need to transport round my 72 year old mum, various other family and work members. Although 95% of the time, it's me flying solo.

Is it all worth it though? I'll do maybe a few track days a year. It's never going to set the world on fire, but it's more for the enjoyment aspect of it.

The DCI is brilliantly cheap to run, so I don't really want to swap it for an older 172/182 (especially as it's 3 door), and can't afford a 2nd car.

Thoughts welcome!

Have you considered an M3 ?

Being serious though, I'd buy a faster car tbh whether it's a clio or not.

Get a remap and fit a drivers bucket seat? I wouldn't bother spending money on bracing. Maybe some decent tyres on a second set of wheels? These would always come in handy if you did decide to get a 1*2.

What suspension are you running? If standard then I'd think about a set of Eibach springs.

I wouldn't bother matey, it's a long and slippery slope that will always see you wanting more I reckon. Enjoy your car for what it is, is it worth messing about, throwing money at it? I think you using it on track as it is, is great TBH. Could you not just rent a car in with one or two TDs instead? A few operators offer Caterhams etc to hire, if you want a speed fix. Purely my opinion of course but I don't think it's worth track prepping a car unless you do at least say 6 track days a year.

Suspension is AP coilovers, lowered about 40mm.

Sounds sensible Adam. It's not like I'm pushing the clio beyond it's limits!

Still thinking of a remap anyway - a little more power never hurt anyone. ;)
