Is my Amp over heating

  Cupra K1 & Clio 200

Well ive fitted my amp (Pioneer GM-X962), and ive hooked up my sub. But even when i was listening to some tunes for about 5 minutes, the amp got really hot, and its not a problem of ventilation. Ive placed it on the boot floor with nothing in the way. Is it meant to get this hot, or have i done something wrong.

Hon

PS ive fitted all myself, so if i forgotten to do something, give me a shout. Cheerz

Im not a expert but as long the music doesnt cut out its ok. When I use to have amps in my car they got pretty hot.

Oh thanks. I think its because im like a big boy with a new toy and every second, the volumes at max. This means that its at full whack all the time and it requires a lot of power i guess.

Most good amps have a thermial cut out as well which when to hot just switch themselves off. If this happens then you know youve been caining them hard.

Cheerz Chavy, ill take that into consideration! I think i better lay off the heavy bass tunes at the mo, just to let the sub settle in.

it all depends on how youve wired the sub to the amp if the amp is running at 2 omhs it will get hotter than what it would if it was running at 4 omhs or maybe earth the amp with the same gauge wire as youve used to power it

rite. Well im re-doing my boot and im installing 2 computer fans, one pushing and one pulling towards the amp to cool it down. Ive also attached a heat sensor to the amp and ive got a digital display on my dash. If it gets hot, i can switch the fan on with a switch which ive attached to my dash aswell. Looks well smart, and hopefully have it done for Southend meet!

Good thinkin mate that will help the amp loads but i do think if you had of done somat wrong the amp would have given up on you by now but the fans are a great add on to have mate go with it
