Is this a good deal?

Car  Silver 172 cup
I have found this on Autotrader and am going to give them a phone if people think it is a good price. I have looked at parkers and they say it is a good deal but i know that parkers can never be completely accurate.

Thanks for your views.

Mark

Looks OK.

But its not a cup, its a 182 FF with the cup packs fitted. ( better than the cup)

Has it got Full Renault Service, inc Aux belt change at 36k.

It says it has a full renault history but i don't know about the aux belt, I haven't phoned them yet. I will ask though. I didn't think it was a cup. Not that it make a great deal of difference to the price or anything.

Cup would be little cheaper IMO.

You need that belt done, plus it needs a 48k service soon.

Hope they have washed it before you go and see it.

PS welcome to the forum.

Just been on the phone. Aux belt hasn't been done. How much does it cost and how serios is it if i breaks? Also when does the cam belt need replacing? My astra is 70k so i'm guessing a few miles yet.

Would cost about £150 at a dealer, but the belt is available to buy for £9.

If it brakes it will also take the Cam belt with it.

Cam due at 5 years or 72k

Ok so ideally it would need to be done immediately then. Also, he says it has a FRSH. Should the belt not have been done to have this. How big is the 48k service that will be due soon?
Thank you for your help.

Yes. Renault don't even know that the Aux belt has to be done, but it does say it in small print in their service manual.

48k service is the same as any other.

Looks alright, not exactly bargain of the year though, they could of at least cleaned it im not sure what the paint is like under that grime.
The splitter is still attatched which is a good sign however the oil flap/ cover thing on the engine cover is missing. The replacement of the tyres with Avon's rather than exalto's suggests they have been cutting corners, I would check the service history carefully.

It's pretty cheap but I can't believe they didn't bother washing it for the photos! Makes it look uncared for.

Yeah I couldn't believe it either. You would have thought they would want it to look spotless to sell it. I cleaned mine every few weeks anyway but since it has been up for sale i have cleaned it weekly just in case I get a phone call.
I am going to see it Thursday night so I will let everyone know how it goes. Fingers crossed, I have waited for a while and can finally afford to insure one.

Looks suspiciously cheap to me tbh. Make sure you have a look at the logbook to double check it hasn't been crashed and rebuilt. Hope it hasn't cos then you'll have a cracking deal!

Went to view it yesterday. It had only been serviced twice. Well only two stamps and 2 receipts. Other than that the car was in good condition. Only one very small mark on the passenger door and it ran fine.
The two services were March 2006 and September 2007 and nothing before those two. Car was registered March 2004.
He said he would knock £300 off for the aux belt not being done.
Any suggestions?
Should steer clear because of the missing service?

Well its not got full service history as he advertised.
This won't mean that its going to blow up or anything, try getting more knocked off and offer £6200. IMO

I hate sellers who can't be bothered to clean their car before taking pics of it:dapprove:
I also get annoyed by sellers who take pics on a 0.3mp camera, so that when you enlarge the pics they are blurred as fook:mad:
To me that shows that they can't be asked.

BMark - have you hpi'd it etc ??

I haven't yet no. What is the best way of doing so?
Is it best to use hpicheck.com or is there a cheaper option?

I went to look at another one being sold by an independant dealer earlier today. It was a 2004 53 reg in silver. Had done 56k. If i can knock a bit more off i will get the black one providing it is all kosher.
