its a 1998 1.4 but im not sure if its a 8v or 16v plz help guys heres a picture aswell

wot do you mean last evolution of the energy lump lol in basic terms??? so you think a 1.2 16 v would be better than a 1.4 8v

got a website for performance figures or a link to a forum post with them??

Torque should be better on the 1.4.... pmsl.

My 1.4 Renault 5 GTS had 72 BHP and that was a D reg... what were Renault playing at lol.

Round town the RT would be causing the 1.2 16vs trouble.A little more grunt and a little more pull low down due to being 8v. Short sharp bursts of 'go'ness.

This is true. The 1.4 is a little easier to drive around town.

But in all tests I have against my mate with a 1.4 8v the 1.2 16v has owned him on all accounts!

i assume thats missing the engine cover? cos my 1.4RT engine doesnt look like that :S

Creme egg its virtually the same engine, just uses a different airbox etc - big big you can see (updated slightly aswell)

Just the various changes renault made as it was used in different cars over the years, it actually got less powerful but more economic as it aged.

It started off with a dizzy and a carb, yours has efi and coil packs. Just small changes, also the head casting/design changed as well.

have any of you got a picture of what the engine cover should look like on my car then ?

But my car's a 1.4RT same age, and the yellow oil cap is set into the silver surround etc. I assume that yours is missing then?
