Mate of mine has just bought a flame red 1.2 from a dealership, 1 year old and its costin him 135 pound a month on finance, thinking of something similar. Its a leasing scheme, anyone done anything similar? Are they any good?

They're the ones where you have a massive lump sum to pay off at the end, aren't they?

I guess they're trouble-free motoring (well, almost - it is a renault LoL) but you don't get to own the car at the end unless you cough up shitloads!

Depends your' always in debt and never own the car as such depends what you need I'd never recomend most people ever use it.

Entirely depends on your own circumstances mate. Im actually paying for my Cup on finance and its costing me £135 pm with a lump sum to pay in June 2008.
If you can afford to put money away to pay off the lump at the end then by all means do it that way. Doesn't cause me any probs at the moment and im 18 month in.

Oh right cool guys, yeah I was considering it last night but was told you need to pay a huge lump sum at the end

I can afford to pay it but will not leave me much for other things. Think I'll go down another route to own a good car

i used hire purchase and it suited me fine. It was the only way i could afford to buy a car of its age, and as long as you dont molest it by modding it, you can swap it for a new car after the 3 years. I had no trouble and would defo do it again. However if you do want to own the car indefinatly you will need to pay the lump sum as said above and it will work out more expensive

Going down to SMC in Guildford tomorrow to see what they have and what deals I can get. So if I leave it completely standard You can just hand it back and get a newer car?

^ yeah you give the car back and they do you a deal on a new car, or you can pay the lump sum. Best asking them for the ins and outs yourself though
