Right im in the process of looking for a Mk3 Clio and ive been looking at 1.2 and 1.4 models of the Dynamique and im mainly after a 1.4, but......

My dad said to me today why do you want a 1.4 when the 1.2 is 100hp and the 1.4 is 95hp, first thing in my mind was IMPOSSIBLE considering parkers says total opposite (1.2 75hp and 1.4 98hp).

Whos right? by the way ive tryed tellin him, he's one of them who cant be told.

Mike

The mk3 clio 1.2 does have a turbo which takes it to 100bhp.

The figures you have look like the figures for the Mk2 Clio.

As above.

I believe there are:
1.2 N/A
1.4 N/A
1.2 Turbo.

The last one being the highest PS output.

if your buying a new one they only do a 1.2 turbo in the dynamique, they dont do a 1.4 or 1.6 anymore

im a salesmen from renault i have the price guide and brochure in front of me at my desk!!!!

04-06 dynamique is 75 for as 1.2 and 98 for a 1.4.

The Mk3 shape is the brand new clio.

172/182 shape is the MK2 shape.

your probes thinking of the mk2 ph3, its got 75 horse inthe 1.2 16v, the 1.4s 98 and are reallly thin on the ground, i coulnt find one that was in a decent knick for my money (5k)

the proper mk3 (new clio), has a nor mal 1.2 with 75 ps, and a 1.2 with a turbo 100ps, as has the new twingo.

i had this trouble when i was looking for one. some places call the first 172 a mk2 then the facelift (with the 172 and 1*2) a mk3. whereas others call the first 172 a mk2 phase1 and the 172/182 series a mk2 phase2. I own a 2002 1.2 expression and it is the one that is of the 182 era and i call it the mk2 ph2. everyone seems to know what im on about and the 197 (and other brand new clios) the mk3

id go with the 1.4 tbh...you will regret not getting it in the future if you go for the 1.2.

same the 1.4 says in the discription that its got recaro sport interior but doesnt look any different than the 1.2

I really doubt the 1.4 will have a recaro interior! :p

I'd go for the 1.4, just for the rareity value, if I was looking for another car I would have went for the 1.4, don't get me wrong the 1.2 is a good car but very common.

I'd go for the newer one, assuming they have the same options / trim levels.

Bugger all real world difference between the 1.2 and 1.4, 1.2 16v is a decent enough enough and provides enough poke for a enjoyable drive.

to be honest i'd go with the newer car with the warrnaty, just for the piece of mind, the 1.2 i thought would be too slow and not very good but, to be honest i love the wee thing, if you drive it liek your french you get rewarded, , you can have just as much fun and get into just as much trouble in a 1.2 as you can 1.4, but with lower insurance ( the difference when i quotes was £250 wheni was 20 with i years experience and o ncb, and its still about £100 being 21 with 1ncb)and parts are a little bit more available for the 1.2 as the 1.4 and 1.6 had alot of the same mechanical componants but both are pretty much hens teath. also the economy of the 1.4 isnt that good to be honest, you'd be hard pushed not to get a 1.2 to drop below 40mpg.

^ what he said

and also im sure the warranty will be very handy

Had an issue at work with a customer where his young son was looking to buy the 1.2 but we wouldnt insure him due to it having a turbo. Fine for the 1.4 tho..
