im getting this laptop and im wanting to know if it will be good enough to play the latest games on?

Dell Inspiron 9100 Laptop with a Pentium 4 (Hyper threading) CPU with a speed at 3 GHZ a ATI mobility Radeon 9700 128 MB graphics card and 1 GB of Ram.
15.4 inch screen. A 60 GB hard drive is included

im just wanting to play the odd new game on it but im wondering if it will be ok?

If at all possible, don't ever buy a laptop with the main intended use being gaming. Not ever. Desktop will always pwn it for less cash. Depends if you really need a gaming laptop though.

No. It's not a good spec :)

^^^^ the class leader in its day - but that day has long gone, unfortunately. You've got issues on a number aspects with this as a gaming platform. 128MB is absolutely rock bottom minimum these days and would struggle with anything modern.

On top of that, the memory of the laptop is small at 1GB and it will probably be slow speed. The final nail in the coffin will be the 5,400rpm (if you're lucky) speed of the hard drive. They are much slower than even the mundane desktop PC.

It will run games, no problem. But you'll be looking at ones of 4+ years of age before they play at any decent rate.
