Is this true

Been having probs with my cars revs, coming off the clutch they shoot all the way round to the red line. I thought this was my throttle cable as the problem has been gradually getting worse. The other day I had to replace my battery as it went dead all of a sudden. I took the car in to my mechanic this morning and he said it wasnt the cable causing the probs, it was the old battery. Is this right, how does a duff battery make the car rev ??

Cheers,

Mike.

there is a possible link here, the battery problem could actually be the gearbox earth strap, which is very prone to rotting. When this went of my mates car, the engine started earthing through the throttle cable, which made it heat up and partially melt, which was making it stick and act weird. This is the only possible thing he could be on about, check your earth straps anyway

Cheers. Put a new battery in to get it to the garage and it was fine, runs perfect. Picked it up from the guy and he said hed had a look at everything and can find nothing wrong at all, nor can I now, it idles on 900rpm fine and is fine to drive too. Weird !!
