Is this true....

  BMW 118d

Got told by a guy in my local car store that by disconnecting my battery for at least an hour will reset my ECU, this making my engine run better after I fitted my induction kit. Seems unlikely, but is this true?

Dunno but if you do it n it does let me know! Coz i gotta 1.2 16v with a pipercross induction kit on the k-tec relocation kit.

Cheerz, Alan.

Surley it would just reset it, how is it going to suddenly know that you have an IK??

It will just go back to factory settings surley, and woudl it it not already be on factory settings?

The theory is that at first its still learning how it should be driven, so if you reset it, then with all your mods thrash it a bit itll be used to being driven fast and somehow run better or somat. Dunno how true it is though. Cause surely if it was capable of learning it wouldnt suddenly stop learning after an hour?

the ecu constantly self learns anyway. on newer clios you cant reset the ecu by just disconnecting the battery, you need renault clip.
