I have this problem with my Saxo VTS. Its a common fault with them, they want to stall when idling. I was told by someone, disconnect the battery for about an hour and itll sort itself, I told this to someone else and they said itd screw your ecu if it had no power for that long. The stalling is still happening and I dont know whether to try it. I must have the car working, so until now Ive left well alone.

I had a similar problem with my escort which was one of the reason that I got rid of it.

Taking the battery of the cars wont do any problems it may reset the Ecu and any learning that the Ecu has done will be forgotten. But it wont forget how to run.

I would try the removing of the battery. But I cannot see that fixing the problem its most likly some doggy sensor giving the wrong readings to the ECU.

If you remove the battery dont forget to make a note of the radio setting and radio code as it will forget then and need them reinputting when you try and tur it on again.

Removing the battery wont do your car any harm the ECU is a safe Ie it cannot be deleted when you take the power away.

there are VERY VERY few cars that lose the ECU memory if the batt is disconnected, and the likes of Cit/Renault dont fall into that small amount of cars...........

IIRC its one or 2 Jap cars.........

so your mate is wrong....
