my new clio cup 182 is brill cant fault it but the power comes out of it is when it reaches 5,000 rpm but it dont go to 7,000 it goes like 6750 then it seems the engine has stopped in that gear but on the clock it says 8,000 i know im not going in the red but cars should still go there right? any ideas why it dont go there or is it me just being stupid

The revs rise and then all of a sudden they just stop as if they have hit a limit. It will sound something like ba-ba-ba-ba-ba.

Or do you mean the car won't accelerate past a certain speed?

That's just the speed limiter. Try and stay away from it. You can have it raised if you have the car remapped but you should change before you get to that point anyway.

He's saying you should learn how to drive. Albeit in a more polite, softly-softly approach. lol.

If you're bouncing off the limiter you should change gear sooner! If it stops at 6750 that means your engine is still cold. It should go up to 7250 in first and second gears when the oil is fully up to temperature.

Just because it has 8000rpm on the rev counter, doesn't mean you can rev it that high.

When the engine is warm, maximum revs are 7250rpm (limiter), but you shouldn't go that high. Until the engine is warm, the limiter is lower, but personally, until you have been driving for at least 10 minutes, I wouldn't take it above 4500rpm.

I agree with Chris.:approve:

When cold mine used to limit at 6500rpm, I've had a re-map and it limits at 7650rpm, but its really not worth going that high. I find its best to change at about 6800rpm, its not worth caning the ar5e off the car for the acceleration after that. Power drops off like a stone.:dapprove:
