Is wifi free on ur mobile phone, say i was to connect to my home router through my phone to connect to the internet shouldnt it be free? makes sense to me that it should be free but on o2 it says i need to select either unlimited texts or unlimited wifi for my contract phone

Yes, it's free.

Unlimited wifi will be hotspots. McDonalds/Starbucks etc.

Yeah it's free. I think the O2 unlimited wifi will be to connect to O2 wifi zones in public places. Train stations, shopping centres etc...
