ISCV

Hi all

Can anyone tell me what an ISCv is? i heard its something to do with the autochoke and that if the car is a bit jerky when cold this is likely to need cleaning or replacing?

Thanks

Dazz

Idle Speed Control Valve.

You dont have one, assuming you are referrign to your RT. You do however have an idle speed control solenoid or stepper motor if you prefer.

You dont have an auto choke either.

Whats causing you problem with be a combination of clogged up tb (take it off and clean it thoroughly) and a knakcered coolant temp sender. Dodgy valve clearences can also cause trouble here.

Whilst cleaning the TB pull back the rubber sleeze on the solenoid and clean any crap off of it and a squirt of wd-40 for good measure.

TB - throttle body. The thing the accelerator cable attaches to.

The coolant temp sender is on the side of the head in frotn and below the dizzy. Theres 2 senders, the brown one is for the temp light/gauge and the smaller yellow one is the CTS.

they dont have auto choke, you need a carb to have auto choke.

The autochoke is operated by a bimetaalice spring encased in a round cylinder to which a spindle and seconary throttle plate attaches. It chokes off the air flow whilst the throttle is open and the main circuit provides the fueling.

What you both have and pretty much evryoen else on here unless they have a carb is cold start enrichment, basically the pulse width is lengthened so more fuels injected when its cold.
