Itb running issues

  172 Cup plus more
Hi all, I am after some advice, since fitting an itb kit I am having running issues

I have fitted a ktec itb kit along with the gen90 ecu. Since then at idle it seems to blow back through the ITB's at both 1 and 2 cylinders (sometime 1 other times 2)

After supplying a data log to Ktec the came back with the following:

"Lambda is trying to add 20% fuel (max) whilst in closed loop so it is seeing itself as lean.

You can try the following:

1) Balance bodies to 6 or 6.5 on syncro and try to keep an eye on OX FB %'age to see if it gets closer to +/- 5% on idle
2) If cam belts have been done check the timing setup as you may have an issue there.

Cam timing is critical on these, stock ECU will compensate for this with MAP sensor compensation but we don't use it on ITB's of course. Slight advance on Inlet cam will cause the same."

I have re balanced the bodies and they are all down at 6.5 on the syncrometer but still no change and I am getting no where near the OX FB % ( it fluctuates around 15%).

Unfortunately I am unable to drive the car on the road to say how it is driving as the car is for the track and non for legal (no lights etc)

What do you think to the timing comment? As it never missed a beat prior to fitting the ITB's ? As I don't want to organise a trailer etc to check the timing if it could be something else, along with the fact the car is actually in France and the only place near me to check timing is Renault who will firstly rape be and probably do it wrong.

Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I assume the car is just running a base map?

Ideally you need it checking over and setting up / mapping by somebody competent.

where are you based?

Yeah it's on the base map but after chatting with ktec they said that this maps was ok for running straight off.

If I wanted to get the absolute best performance then I was to go for mapping.

I'm based in Northern France so a bit of a nightmare when it come to logistics

I personally wouldn't trust a generic map but that's just me so this needs checking. A timing issue is also indeed possible and as above, it doesn't take much with these to create an issue that has gone un-noticed on standard management. A timing check is 30minutes work and very cheap to do in comparison to having the map checked so I'd advise you go this route first.

Ok thanks Mick, and regarding the timing check would you trust Renault (France) to be competent to do this? There is a Renault garage close who state the have a rs specialist

It the Tps value been set for 0% and 100%? it could be trying to add fuel if it's seeing throttle value when it should be?

Did the setup where you put it at a TPS raw of 10 at zero and the 100% gave me around 219 raw. I have also re checked that a few times.

Yeah they should be capable of locking the crank at TDC and then seeing if MOT1496 can be inserted in to the camshaft setting notches without issue.

Been away working since posting this thread mate so not had the chance to get anyone to look at it.

Also there may be a possibility I am moving with work so the car will have to wait a little.
