Had my car a year now and it just doesnt feel asd fast anymore!!

Some days it still puts a smile on my face but not as often as it used to....

Anyone else suffering in silence?

When I first bought my vts, it used to make me grin from ear to ear.

It was so ridiculously quick after being used to an RT.

Used to it now, it feels slow at times even though I know itll give most cars I come across more than a fright.

When I had an old 1.2RL after the vts went in following an accident, it was laughable how slow the RL was and how bad it handled.

Like anything, after the novelty has worn off, you want more, better, faster, shinier etc.

Yeah you need to try a smaller car to remind you....

Also hammering down dual carriageways doesnt really give you the best impression of speed. I am quite used to mine now so it feels slow in that scenario but it still feels lethally quick on a lane.

I thought this about mine not so long ago. But then I realised that I was just getting lazy and changing up at around 4500rpm rather than really stretching its legs. It could be that youre doing the same. I still think these cars pack enough performance to be good fun even after you get used to it. Try seeking out some new B roads to play on, maybe you are just getting bored of using the same roads every day?

Good point that Rick, I am changing up about 4K and thats when all the fun starts!

Ill probably go out for a boot this afternoon and push the limits a bit more.

You do get used to the 182, as i have found.

When my old Fiesta Zetec-S was in for repair (had the 182 at the time), i had to drive it back from Edinburgh on the motorway - christ it was so slow, no kick in the back. Got back in the 182 and it was like "wuhhhhho!" - speed is all relative.

I remember a Top Gear episode where Damon Hill was driving a Ferrari on the Isle of Man (if i remember rightly) and he said it didnt feel that quick because of what he was used to driving. Ferrari not quick? crazy!

Youll always want quicker/faster. After a spin in a P1 and a Lotus Elise, it killed the thrill of my 182.

I just take my little 4speed 998cc mini for a drive when i start to get a little too used to the 182 Althought saying that when going about 50 in the mini it feels like youre doing at least 100mph lol

i always feel this about my 172.but as said before, when u drive other cars, or even as a passenger u can tell yours is actually fast, just u are used to it! i was in my mates focus st170 last week n it was slow in comparison. once u have had a taster for speed, u cant get enough!!!

It happens whatever car you drive, When i had my Evo, i thought wow! ill never get bored of this power but you just do, you get used to it

great handling will always put a smile on your face whereas the novelty of having lots of power wears off after a little while

yep theres loads of difference but youll get used to it after a while

Yeh, I occationally change from my 182 to a 1.2 16v and thats when i really appricaite the 182. Driving the 1.2 flat out is like my normal calm driving in the 182. lol

Yeah going back to a 1.2 just feels really weird. Its like driving a 182 but with the rev limiter kicking in at 1800rpm.

very very true! mine makes me smile everytime the tyres dig in on a corner! and i have had a 1.2 16v for 3 1/3 years! even when i do my 235mile trip to Scotland, its sooo impressive in 5th on the motorway (for what it is!), love it!!

Im having the same problem with my Ibiza. Just got used to it now. The thing with my car is, if you want more power, just throw some more money towards it and go bigger turbo conversion. The engine has so much potential it equals constant bank account rapeage though! As said above, if youre not actually gonna mod it to genuinely make it quicker, drive a 1.2 for a week or so (or until youre used to it). So much fun when you return!

Mine just gets better and better, Also last week was sat on the other side of the fence, Used my partners works A3 1.8T and "took on" a full fat 172 and was put to shame, Kinda surreal moment but made me realise how good they are. Puts a smile on my face every time I drive it LOL

Ive got both, no matter what I can say the difference truely is unexplainable. The 1.2 16V is no slouch as 1.2s go, but the step up to a Cup is huuuuuge. You do get used to the power of the 172 but as soon as you go in almost any other car you find commonly on the road you realise how quick it really is. The 0-60 difference between the 2 is almost 6 seconds, thats almost forever in real terms, and if anything I find the Cup is better once moving, 30-70 etc, the difference there would be far greater still.

Handling is a bit closer, the newer Clios handle very very well (at least in Dynamique form) and can be pushed hard on twistys without much trouble, but what suprised me is that the Cup actually improves on that further which took me by suprise a bit.
