Its official: Missing the Clio badly :(

I must admit, there's been time (like now where my 182 is in bits, being fixed at BTM) when I'd love to have a lazy waft-mobile. Comfy, heated everything, leather etc.

Then I'll drive my Dad's car and love how easy it is. But, it's not really fun.

I can't wait to have the Clio back now, I'm bored of diesel torque.

Sorry to hear you're having regrets about selling the clio mate, i had a bad feeling when you sold it as it was a really good example to own, with the belts done it would have been mint.

You may have noticed i haven't been active much lately, both on here and attending meets too, i'm toying with the idea of selling mine, mainly because i need a van for when i go self employed early next year but also because i only use it once a week for getting to college and back at the moment, thing is i know i wouldn't get it's true value in terms of what i have put in to it but also i know that even though now it's winter and it sits quiet on the drive(so much so the battery went flat the other day) i know full well that come spring and summer i would miss it like hell if i sold it so i'm desperately trying to keep hold of it for when the fun times come around again :)

I would suggest to you that if you really do want one again then buy in the next month or so while it's cold and people might not be thinking of buying hot hatches so much, i would be gutted to sell mine now, i'd rather run it into the ground than let it go at today's price :(

Alright Ste

Wondered why you hadn't been very active. Me and chris are meeting up over crimbo, would be good to catch up with you too if you fancy coming along? Nothing planned but can let you know :)

Sad to hear the clio might go but if it needs to be done then do it, careers more important than a car afterall! Just dont buy a combo lol

If you think the Mk5 GTI is numb then the TT is DEAD! The TT is the most unispiring car I've ever owned. I had more fun in my old mk3 Astra 1.4 CD (it had multi point injection yo!).

Seriously, VAG's are boring.

I spent loads on Maps, Suspension, ARB's, Bushes... the TT was still crap in comparison to the Clio.

Please please please if you're missing the Clio get another one and do not waste ££££'s on the Golf trying to make it like the Clio... You'll fail.

Alright Mike :)

Might be up for meeting up over christmas, two solid weeks off work might drive me crazy stuck in the house so a run out might be fun.

Not really thought about a combo much, i have two options in mind depending on the route i go down with the business, one is a commercial 110 defender and the other would be a transit connect, i figure you can't go far wrong with a transit, boring though it may be :(

How strange, i find the TT infinitly better than the MK5 Golf, which i have to say is probably the lamest car i've ever driven. Like a small chested girl in a wonderbra, there's much promise from afar, but so much disappointment when you get to rag it.

Hi Ste, good to here from you. Yeah fter what I have done, I would say keep the Clio and run the thing into the ground lol. It doesnt help when the Golf is 20bhp down and Paul at RS Tuning is struggling to find out whats up with it, we have tried everything apart from new injectors (which will be tried next monday)

Hope all goes well with the new business mate!

The TT was more fun because of the "no power, no power, all the power" delivery. The Golf is too smooth, although its 20bhp and 20pound feet down at the min, so hoping its more fun after Paul has fixed it next week...

Sounds like the TT was remapped tbh as I've had 3 20vt cars and none of them in STD form had that sort of power delivery! They all run quite low levels of boost so it feels like there is no turbo as there's hardly any lag.

Once mapped all the 20vt's are good fun in a straight line but I've not driven a new age VAG which I'd describe as fun.

Cheers Matt :), hope Paul manages to find your power issue, i'm sure he will, i was impressed with how he sorted mine out.

Re: mk5 golf.
I bet its freakin awesome as a daily driver.. I was going to test drive one out of boredom before the snow came...
I just can't imagine it giving daily excitement like the clio..

I used to miss my 172 to the point i'd have almost weekly dreams about it. Now I have the mx5 they've gone away. Things I miss about the Clio is the power and economy.

I will probably end up back in another RS Clio at some point in the future, when I need a newer more practical car.

In this day and age cars like the golf are very good but just not exciting enough . Boost LAG FTW

I agree about selling the Golf, it will be snapped up, your biggest problem will be finding another good clio :)

Gutted for you mate - certainly was a looker! Drove well too, apologies if I'm lumped in with the 'timewaster' crowd - ha, Curley eventually came good and I went with my original deal I made with him :)

Who bought yours in the end?
