Itunes installation errors!

  E55, KitCar & '85 Quattro
Recently I formatted my HD and have been a bit slow putting all my songs back into Itunes. Then my 30gig Ipod video got nicked, and Ive bought a new 80gig one. Now Ive downloaded the new installation files for 7.0.1.5 or whatever, and it doesnt want to install! It goes through all the validation insallation etc etc, and then it gets to the "Status: stopping services" bit and it stops and then when i cancel it, it crashes!

Apple support site told me this: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=302335

This error can be caused by two things:

The Windows Management Instrumentation service isn't running on your computer.
Norton Internet Security 2005 is running on the computer.

I've done the Norton bit, but not the Windows Management Instrumentation bit!?

Please please help as I'm going away skiing on friday and i have to sit on a coach for 24hrs and don't want to be ipod-less!

  Golf R soon...
Go to start, run, type "services.msc"

This will launch the services window on your computer, scroll down the button and see if the "Windows Management Instrumentation" service is running.

Uninstall Norton
Uninstall Windows Defender (if you have it)
Turn off Windows Firewall

I'd put money on it working now :D

Ok, I did what DazG said to do and its running. Tried doing it without it running and it gave me the same problem!

Darthcake, that sounds a bit drastic!
