I've decided not to sell.....

The 182 isn't going anywhere........ for now, at least!

I've been thinking of what best to do these past couple of months, and I can safely say that I'm happy sticking with the 182.

The 197 was never even a starter for me and while the Corsa VXR had some potential, it was a hefty hike in monthly payments. The madness of that being a mere £23 per month less than a Meggy R26 - a car that I personally think looks the nutts and I was so, SO close to ordering one.

The main reason why I didn't? Because I wasn't bored with the 182 yet. :approve: As simple as that, really. Pound for pound, I think there is little else to touch it and I still have a great time with it, even though it's my daily driver.

The HOOOOGE temptation with the R26 equated to a doubling of monthly out-goings, but I doubt very strongly it would translate to a doubling of the fun.

On top of that, I'd be denying myself what I truly want. Ever since I caught the first glimpses of the 6, I've be dying to get my mitts on an Evo. I know, I know - these are money pits that make the R26 look like Frugalmobile Spec-Edition Tightass, but I just need one. ;)

In a perfect world, I'd have a stardard Evo VI GSR in white with about 5 miles on the clock. I know that this isn't going to happen and by the time I finally do look at Evos, decent 6's will probably be uber-rare.

But still, I like the 7s and 8s also, so I'm not limited there. I guess I can just sit back, enjoy the car that I'm really happy with now whilst at the same time, looking to the future and planning for an Evo.

Am I mad, or just looking at the workd through rose-tinted glasses!

I NEED a 172......... but take a good long think about it. IS it really really worth it ???????

Btw, you live once and only once, unless your God and then you can take your time.

Good point, but I think the answer is yes! :D

I think you should always aim to improve what you had previously in a car - especially if you're a petrolhead. I love the Evo's approach to things. Take a completely boring, feck ugly four door and 'factory-make' it to be a hooligan.

The 6 takes that notion to it's extreme, imo. The later models all look a bit more civilised. The 6 looks 110% purposeful........ and I love it to bits.

Michael - I think once you have a go of a 172, you'll be hooked. Driving mine back tonight, I still 'get' what the RS Clios are about. They are the family runabout, evolved. They get you from A to B, but egg you on to take that next corner better, to leave that stretch in-gear a little longer. All while giving you the confidence that it won't rip your head off and sh1t down your neck if you so much as put an inch wrong on the road.
