Just been for a Service

  The Beast MK4

Went in to Hi-Q for my first service (12000) since I bought the car in Feb 2003. The Service unfortunately highlighted several expensive problems.

Front - Pads low and Discs worn & Corroded
Rear Cylinders leaking & Shoes seperating
O/S C.V gator insecure
Plus there was confusion about the previous service which was done at the dealer (Reg Vardy Motherwell to name and shame). The idiots did not change the spark plugs and the timing belt when they were supposed to which has resulted in one of them being stuck. I am now praying this one does not misfire because I believe the cylinder head would have to be opened up to retrieve it. I am angry that the timing belt wasnt replaced either because if this had snapped the resulting damage would also have been very expensive.

The car is a 99 Grande 1.2 8v. The wallet is well and truly going to be raided. Anyone else had a nightmare like this?

Jonaldinho, when my Cup spat a spark plug before christmas and the Renault diagnosis was to have the cylinder head off to re-thread it... the cost, a cool £1,600 + vat or so.

Got it done for stupidly less thanks to some very close friends on here (you know who you are.) :)

If your car does develop a fault and Reg Vady are to blame then it is their fault and you shouldnt incur the bill.

Oh and ive just done complete disks and pads all round on my Cup. An expensive exercise admittadly! lol.
