alright lads. had me dynamique+ 1.4 for 3 years, just got the balls to go out and get myself a 172. pick it up on monday, cant wait! had a drive in it today and its a big difference to dynamique. i just missed out on a 182 cup for the same price by half an hour so im a bit gutted about that but what can ya do. insurance is a killer with me being 23 and only 2 years no claims! anyway hopefully see some of ya around manc :D
 
I think the insurance is a killer cos of manchester not age ;) You'll have fun. Until stuff breaks.
 
yeah a load of companys wouldnt touch me :( haha i know all about stuff breaking from my previous one, got 2 years warranty 2 MOT's and 2 services thrown in for nothin though so it cant be all bad.... :D

exactly the same as me mate.

had a 1.4 for 3 years.

got a 172. insurance is only £500 on mine though!
was pretty gutted when i got it tbh.
in time the memories of my old car have faded and i have done some stuff in this that makes me think its alright.

expect to know all the petrol station employees names from now on!
 
im in the same boat as harry, i had my 1.2 16v for 2 years and when i got the 172 hated it, it looked better etc but when driving it hard i was unimpressed with the handling and the way it drives (mostly due to 16" wheels over the 15" wheels i was used to)

but over time ive forgot what my 1.2 was like, done a few mods to the 172 and starting to enjoy it now. although it feels slow now lol
 
What colour is it? I wouldn't have thought the insurance would be that bad at 23, I was 23 when I got mine and it was ok? Nice one though anyway :)
 
Its silver, ive been getting loads of quotes, half of them wont insure me because of my age and half because of my postcode but ive found the cheapest is performance direct at £1315, bit of a kick in the teeth but ill have to pay it i suppose. I will get some pics up on monday evenin when i pick it up, cant wait havent been able to sleep lol
 
Excellent.

I remember getting shot of my old RT when I traded it in for a VTS. I#'d had it for 4 years. The VTS was so much fun I forgot the RT as you realise quickly you've moved on to better things. In the end it's juts a car and was easier trading in the VTS for the 172.

You'll love it mate.

Try morethan for your insurance.

No matter who you try always try adding a second driver. Older female with no points or claims works best. Can knock as much as 25% off a quote.

As already said, all the ones who won't insure you aren't offering to because of your postcode, at 23 your age certainly isn't an issue when insuring a 2.0 hatchback!
 
have you tried greenlight for insurance? im 21 with 1 yrs ncb and my insurance on focus st170 is £957, was the same for a 172.
 
my insurance is £907, 21, )NCB, get some more quote, don't used confused or anything like that.

quality, got some more quotes got the cheapest at admiral for £1050 with my mum on as a named driver, 5 quid cheaper than elephant. well chuffed. i can see myself havin a lot of fun with it, my 1.4 felt quick as fook when i got it but this is gonna be awesome :D

much better, performance direct are a joke tbh, they wanted 3k to insure me on mine, i'm paying £700 lol !!
