Just bought and having probs with Revs!!

Hi everybody, bought a lovely Clio Sport on a 51 plate, but having problems with the revs, not sure if it is how i am driving it or not!! when i put my foot down and drive hard the engine is only giving me 5,000 revs in each gear and it feels like a limiter on it. But if i put my foot down gently i get all the revs!! Confused. I dont know if it has been modded in anyway.:S

No engine is warm!! bugging me tho. Taken back to garage and came back exactly the same!! Took another Clio owner in it and he reckons the power coming in instantly rather than 4500 revs, when i drive foot flat down. But it topped out at 115mph on motorway!

Hopefully that is whats wrong with it! take it back to the garage again and mention that. Least its still under warranty.

Take it to Renault and ask them, a smaller garage might not know. Its a known fault mate and isn't uncommon.

New coil pack is approx £50 and you can fit it yourself.

Cheers. Think youre right, just taken her for a spin and feels that the harder i put my foot down thats when the revs kangaroo!! but i still managed to beat an MR2 Turbo at the lights-he must of been a poor driver!!!!!

my coil pack went (52plate 172) sounds same prob as mine did .

Does your ECU got tunned before?

Fingers crossed its the same prob! Just spoke to garage that got from and they told me I must be thrashing it, cos they found nothing wrong with it!!! got to go tomorrow morning and prove it to mechanics!! Told him if I wanted a 1.2 town runner I would of bought one and not a Sport!!!!
