Ok cheers for that guys.

I find it really weird how the 1.6 is worth less than the 1.2's!!!!!

Mental.

So everyone reckons its all ok?

Should I try and knock him down a bit more do you think or is it a bargain as it is?

Cheers

Sam

You have agreed to buy at £3,300 - which is a contract to purchase, not an invitation to go along and kick tyres.

I could try and knock him down but not very fair becaus eyou have bidded that price. If I was you I would oinspect it inside out including electrics and if anything is not working just start deducting money off!

Good luck anyways it looks like a good buy.

I agree with the above.

However there are always thing that aren't as described e.g. not xenon lights, and therefore legally and by the sellers own admission, if the item is not as described a full refund will be given.

I am tempted to knock him down to 3k as the xenons are a big factor for me. They are worth well over 300 pounds aren't they?

I'd not have bidded without doing my home work. If you did that to me, turned up and expected a discount expect an angry seller and negative feedback.

No offence mate but you put in an offer for the car. Bearing in mind not seeing it just seeing some pictures on the internet (Which might not even be the car) and now your asking us if you should ask for a discount?. I would never ever bid/put an offer in for a 2nd hand car without fully inspecting it 1st.

Its just common sense in my opinion to fully check that the car has the relevant service history, tax and mot before even considering to buy a car.

Agree with a lot of the above comments.

You are in a legally binding contract now.

Maybe you should have gone to inspect the car before purchase?
His feedback is rather alarming in soem places....

He does however offer a 7day money back returns policy ! LMAO

I am in a legal contract with seller. However the contract is for the car described. If it is not so the contract is void and I have lost nothing.

Normally I would go and have a look but I REALLY wasn't expecting him to accept my offer at all, just trying my luck.

I will speak to him tomorrow about the car and will keep you updated.

One of the problems on eBay is people who bid to look at the car and not to buy. I know 4 people who have "sold" their cars on eBay to tyre kickers. YOU BID TO BUY NOT TO LOOK! I hate people who think they can waste someone's time and money by bidding on something they haven't looked at and think they can retract their winning bid because they don't like it. If you want it that badly look at it FIRST, then you don't need to bid if you don't win.

Either show your money when you buy something or don't use eBay.

172.com. Do you know how far it is from Lincolnshire to East Lothian?

I don't mind doing one return trip to collect the car, but I am not up for two return trips.

If the description was correct I would have the car. However there are more and more things that don't match as I look into it further. Are you honestly telling me you think I am in the wrong? I have offered for one thing, yet he is selling something different. If you were me what would you do/have done?

Thanks for that Daz, if it was a write off/finance owing/stolen it would have shown up on that report right?

Thanks

I think Daz has done a vehicle check rather than a full HPI check.
In my view its far too cheap for a 2003 1.6, they normally go for just over £4k, I take what parkers says with a pinch of salt there aren't any about for those prices.
Looks quite clean, only needs new numberplates though. I would HPI it ASAP, my guess being it is a CAT D.

Why didn't you look into it first then? And if it's so far away and you had no intention of buying it without looking at it first you shouldn't have bid.

But if its as described I have no problem with paying for it before I have seen it.

I am bidding on what he is describing.

phone a dealer they can do a HPI for about £3 iirc so just give them a fiver and your away. imo you shouldnt have bid without researching well, and tbh you can tell its a bit dodgy! but still....if it turns out to be a minter its all paid off!

Thats why you shouldn't rush into buying cars off eBay, your bidding to buy, if your unsure, go look at it, then go home again and bid, isn't that the one described as having Xenons aswell

Amazing what difference a £5 set of Number plates can make.

Tom RT I agree you speak alot of sense. But...

I really didn't think he would accept my offer I REALLY didn't! He is also in Scotland so it isn't just around the corner.

If it is as described (and he has told me there are no faults) then why would I need to see it first?

Surely when I am satisfied with HPI etc then I should just go up with the cash and get it?

If he isn't telling the truth somewhere along the line it serves him right for his money to be wasted on eBay fees. If he is telling the truth and it is all HPI clear (which he would know himself as he is a dealer) then I will buy it and all will be well.

If its hpi clear go get it! And if when you get there it doesnt meet his description then don't hand over the money. Pay to do a hpi, I wouldnt trust him.
