Just changed engine mounts. and....

The accelerater pedal seems to be a lot more responsive and seems to be harder, the engine looks to be sittin in the correct position and all the nuts and bolts are tight!

would this make the accelerater pedal higher up and rev more on less pressure?

My lower engine mount was loose and it did feel a lot better once it was tightened. It felt quicker and more responsive but didn't seem to change the pressure of the pedal.

Did you move your throttle cable? maybe the engines moved slightly and theres less slack in the cable or something.

Thats the first thing i thought, i didnt change em a mate did, works in a garage, the engines in the right position now and perhaps thats where is should sit therefore its better!a bit weird tho i think, does seem alot more raspier!just looked at the mounts and put my finger through the ruber there fooked!!

mine felt like the engine was trying to burst out of the engine bay and take off without me :)

The same thing happend to my uncle, he replaced what he though was an Engine mount.......turned out he'd just bolted on a T35 Garret turbo!!!!! lol how silly maybe thats what you've done LOL>

sorry

the uprated lower engine mount from K-Tec helps with this as well - Mike at Rentech fitted for me and although now I can feel a bit of a vibration at tick over the engine hardly moves at all. When I used to let off the accelerator the gear stick would move quite a lot but now it is fixed in place - I much prefer it - seems tighter some how.

Yeah i no that lunner but feels like the acceleration pedal has moved up!seems weird tho!
Thats the difference between a sport and a 1.4, if my engine came out i think it would crewl up the road instead, lol
Loads more solid think its been like it about a year ooops!everywhere i took it they said 'road noise' yeah b@llocks 3 different renault garages said this too!haha

you know in Dr strangelove where he rides the nuclear bomb? thats what its like driving a 172 with a loose mount lol :D

yeeehhhaaaaa!

p.s the only thing that would cause the pedal to move up or down and change where it sits is the throttle cable...

yeah had a play with the cable but its got room to moove and doesnt seem stretched so i think ill live with it and the koni shocks are now working alot better everything is somewhat more solid!

Just wondering... are there any characteristics of loose engine mounts other then clonking noises when accelerating and lifting off? etc...as i dont get these but my gear stick moves slightly.

Thropttle cable is in a sheath up to the TB, so engine moving won't effect it, only way it will ahve been affected is if they messed with the cable and they don't bneed to do that to do mounts

My gear stick was moving a lot, the engine its self vibrated. All cured now tho!

ahhhhh mine does that too!!! so it's the engine mounting that causes it!!! sweetm, am gonna check them all tonight and tighten them all up
