  BMW M135i
Its the same D4F 1.2 16v engine thats been used since the Mk2 Ph1 and you can get them quite cheaply, the only question is why its not like it'd any quicker really.

wat a silly question... i woulda asked, how hard would it be to put a mk3 192 into a mk2 ph1 clio? lol ;)

Difficult.
Engine will need either custom mount or you'll need to go to throttle bodies (in which case might as well just get a 172/182 engine instead and put throttle bodies on it instead of paying premium for a 197 engine which needs the same mods to fit) gearbox isn't easy its the new 6 speed boc custom mounts again and it would be a tigh fit but do able.
Suspension best forget it would be a pain to do a lot of custom work there stick with stock or Williams wide track for ease and custom made to fit driveshafts.
Best idea is to get an 2.0 f7R engine and Williams wide track cost wise.

whats the difference wi 172 and 182 lumps?

i had planned on the 172 wi throttle bodies as a winter project but 182 would be better!

182 has a sportier cat ie less restrictive plus a 4-2-1 exhaust manifold and thats it.
The early Mk1 172 and some Mk2 172 are the ones to go for with a 182 exhaust manifold as later 172 and the 182's have the turbo head casting which isn't as good for power but being as ity was cheap to make and the same power roughtly was made they used it on the 172.

Just the 3Y exhaust manifold I think. Edde will correct me on this.

Edit: Beat me to it.

several reasons:
my 1.2 55hp seems screwed up (or just plain old) - it consumes urban ~11l/100km (thats ~25mpg!), and lots more if i press it hard. unfortunately no mechanic or renault service knows whats wrong with it... they all say its quite ok.
this one consumes (by orig specs) 7.6l/100km urban (im quoting urban, cause i spend half the day in urban driving)
and its more powerful with 75hp (thats nice on a 900kg clio+driver)
etc..

how much money do you reckon just to change the engine and the transmission (and exhaust, or whatever else required)?

You will probably be better off selling it and buying a 1.2 8v mk2ph1 and enjoying 47mpg. You can pick them up for as little as £1500 now.

Best get the engine checked maybe low compression or worn parts but it depends how you drive I cna get sub 20 out of 1.2's

used cars are damn overpriced here (bosnia), but new ones are considerably cheap... example:
the new clio starts at ~6700GBP
and if i sold my car now id get ~1800GBP for it (and it is a mere '95 1.2 55hp)

so its not good to buy used cars here... but the prob is i dont have the money for a new one

What about a crashed car I'd personally get a different engine from another car surly thats cheap?

hm... yea youre probably right...

does anybody have any recommendation, what to look for? id like a ~75hp engine, with as lower consumption as possible (preferrably less than 8l/100km urban, since i drive it in the city 99% of the time... petrol)?

A diesel engine.

I you want more power (up to around 75bhp like the 1.2 16v) drop a 1.4 energy engine from a Mk1 in there. That would be a straight fit, cheap to buy and really no need to tell insurance if you were being naughty as they look identical. That would only need the engine put in and no arsing about with suspension etc, you could use the same gearbox as well.

What 1.2 engine do you have atm m8 - the SPI or MPI engine?

If its the MPI you could put the 16v engine in, likely on the same mounts as they're both D-series engines but you're problem will be wiring, or cost to do it.

At the end of the day don't bother - if you want more power, put a 1.4 energy in or larger. 1.4's can be had for under 50quid and are tried and tested, as are 1.8 16vs for 200 or so...

lol thanks a bunch guys!

i just realized (when i was looking over the specs of the 1.4) that both 1.2&1.4 engines use the same k&n filter E-9136! so i could just use my own on the new engine... ill go for the 1.4 engine! tnx again... i bet it wont be that easy to find it here, but we'll see...

did you say it would be ~50gbp with mouting, or just plain engine?
