  BMW M6 & 172 Phase 1
A decat pipe from GDI and also booked my 182 in to Rentech for inlet manifold matching. Now i just have to sodding wait

Anyone else had both these mods done as im hoping for small but noticable gains. In the process of saving up for Schrick cams as we speak so just will have to wait til then for serious gains :D

How much is the matching? And is it just a case of aligning the piss poor job the renault spanner monkeys did, and as such nothing you'd have to tell jonny insurance about?

yeah i was thinking about it as my mileage is pretty high for an 8month old car and was offered a 4K mile trophy for under £11,000. I know i will probly get slated, but i prefered mine to a trophy in the end (red aint my colour!) so im keeping her.

Anyway, back on topic... :)

Its a case of drilling away the inlet manifold so that it matches the size of the holes in the gasket i beleive, so gives you more air volume. And no i wont be telling my insurance, how can you ever tell:eek:

and how long does Mike need the car for?
Speak to Mike about the prices (circa £200), but its on an exchange basis and i knew he had one in so he can prepare that first:) I think he needs the car for around half a day, but again, best speak to Mike.

£200 to do the work and fit it on ?? Sounds like a bargain to me! Let us know the results.

Since when did Mike do inlet work!!!

it's matching the plenium to the inlets...Gives it a much smoother idle.

Are you gonna get it remapped at all once you have the work done?

It's the cost of a piggy back unit that has stopped me getting this done.

You won't need anything doing after the inlet manifold mod, it just smoothes out the join and allows the air to flow how it should do.

Manufacturing tolerances on that part don't seem as high as they could be so some cars come out the factory with badly matched ones. It's basically just making it how it should be in the first place.

just resetting the ECU to begin with, will get a full remap done once i have my cams etc. I've heard that without a remap decent gains are still available?

Yeah dont tell your insurance company as its not technically improving performance, it will improve performance but only to the level the car should be at when it leaves the factory

wow !!

Thats pretty impressive. Do you think it was worth the drive as i hear you can get a manifold sent to you in exchange for your old one?

Would nt mind a trip to GDI though, maybe for some other goodies. Unfortunatly just got my car service by renault.

Prob just as well GDI arent near me or i would be out of pocket lol
