....oh dear. If you do put one on, make sure you buy some hosing with it and locate it away from the heat of the engine bay. Ive switched to using a Pipercross Viper now, but the relocated K&N worked as well and sounded better.

Although, as Neil says, for pure performance, a panel filter and an RSport ECU are the best bet.

Do a search for R Sport, theres loads of information. A panel filter just replaces the paper filter in your standard air box. Just go for something a bit more free flowing like a K&N. Much cheaper than an induction kit and will give better results (makes the engine rev up a bit more freely).

Does having a panel filter affect fuel economy either positively or negatively, and how do you fit them? Cos, going briefly back to the Ecotek War, at £30 a K&N Panel filter is less than half the price.

Not sure about fuel ecomony with the filter. All I notice is that Im constantly filling the b*****d up with Optimax. Panel filters are cheap, do the job and require little or no fuss to fit them. Open cone induction kits need to be located as far from heat as possible, but sound ace.

To fit a panel filter, just unscrew the cover from your airbox, take out old filter, put in new one, re-assemble air box. Done.
