K-Tec Dogbone Mount???

  Clio 172 Exclusive (#128)
Does anyone know if K-Tec do a dogbone mount?? Looked at the website and the only mounts I can see are the upper engine/gearbox mounts?

If they don't do them, is the only option to go for the OEM part (which is rubbish apparently)?

Have a look on the search. Sure iv read the polly dog bone isnt that good?

End of the day if you make all the mounts stiff, the energy will be passed onto other areas of the car which will increase wear and road noise etc etc

Probably better having a bit of movment to cushion tbh

VVVVV Very true, I would leave the dogbone along and go for the K-Tec group N engine mounts. ;)

Gonna go for the powerflex poly dogbone mount and also gonna get the k-tec upper mounts. SOund like a good combination??

Also... I've got a Ph1 172... is it the straight dogbone or the twisted one that I need?

Cheers for the advice lads.

Basic physics. You stiffen up one area, you place stresses on other areas. Engine moves for a reason, take the movment out, where is it being placed?

I aint saying dont get one, just read on here previous that they aint all that.

one instance that i can identify, and lots of repeated references by lots of people to that one instance. Doesn't quantify a bad mod to me one little bit.

I had a modified pattern dogbone, Mark Fish modded with a metal shim in to squish the rubber bit up if that makes sense.

Didn't have it on the car long, gearchange felt great but when acclerating hard it was causing a knocky/buzzy sound. I was told it was probably the exhaust hitting on the subframe, or something. We tried sticking some washers under the drivers side engine mount to raise things a little, this helped but didn't cure it so I stuck it back to standard.

I still wouldn't mind trying the powerflex one, and a standard brand new one to see i fthey make any difference although I guess I'm lucky in that there's nothing really wrong with mine now. Just nice if either of them firm thigns up without any negative effects.

Yeah fair enough.

It annoys me that one person reported problems and now the whole forum is on the bandwagon.

FACT - about four or five people that only use there car on track and fast driving including FMP and D4ve use powerflex lower mounts with no problems at all!

Just to balance the argument, theres more than one person who has expressed problems after a quick search.
You read what you read some of its going to be bull, others fact, thats forums for ya...

Yeah, its probably very good for track use but thats not road use where you have pot holes and bumps all over the place, ie real life conditions.

as far as i can see they are ok on RS cars, the few problems they have caused (it destroyed my box, manifold and cat!) have been on non RS cars with only 3 engine mounts, not 4 like an RS
