Hey guys was just wondering if anyone on here has had the Turbo kit from K-tec fitted? ITs about 6-7k i think and take the 172/182 up to 250bhp running at 12psi (I think dont quote me).

Anyone had this done? They say it does 0-40 in sub 5 seconds???

Regards!

  Whichever has fuel
and hes had loads of problems i think.

I wouldn't bother. The cars not designed for it. If you want to go faster, buy a faster car imo.

^^^ +1

The Clio is an awesomely balanced car in my opinion. Just a bit more low down torque and induction noise and I'd be happy with the way mine goes :)

It was just curiosity to be honest i wanted to speak to someone thats had it done, i wouldnt bother, I dont think a clio couldt take 200bhp with such a short wheel base.

That coupled with the fact you would need a big f**k off brake conversion to ensure you dont kiss the pavement when you slam the whole lot on.

I rode in ktec's 172 cup turbo and it was crazy fast. Good fun for a while but it could hardly get the power down in the dry wouldn't of thought it was much cop in the wet.

If you want a turbo in a clio. IMHO a VAG 1.8 20v is a better option. Cheaper and easier to tune.
Having said that. more than 200bhp in a front wheel drive clio daily driver is pushing it a bit.
.....and having said all of that, im considering a 20v into my Mk1

now thats one thing it isnt mate!!! lol, just make sure your pockets are deep before going ahead with a vag build:)

depending on what spec you wanna build/have built youll wave good by from 7 to 15k without any problems what so ever!!

I have a bbpt/ktec conversion due to the engine being knackered after 15k miles with the bbpt setup. Not saying that it was due to bbpt, could just be a coincidence. Had the engine reabuilt by ktec and the car seems fine.

I have standard brakes on mine and I have really given it some with no major problems. Although I am considering a brake conversion as you really don't appreciate how fast you are going until you look at the speedo.lol. On my first track day I was told to slow down and let people past....

Ignore all the 0-60 figures, i think it's pointless abusing the gearbox in 1st, you can have loads of fun in the rest.

I will be going for 300bhp as soon as I can afford a decent remap. Watch this space!

LOL very comparable example!

Im basing it on money spent on a conversion compared to equalish money spent on some jap car...

I'd put my money on the clio anyday. plus it will put a bigger smile on your face.

meant to be 450bhp originally

you can get away with running over 200bhp easily, mine was and I used it daily and it was no more or less reliable/problematic.

Well for example a standard... Evo 9 FQ360 by HKS does 0-60 in 3.9 seconds, has anyone bettered that time with a turbo charged/ modified clio??

a stadard evo 9 by hks??...thats not gonna be standard is it??..........for sure scoff did 3.9 secs to 60 in my old rwd 1.4 r5gtt;)

And i am sure Scoff didnt get his engine built by K-Tec or BBPT etc....... bet it cost less than £7k!!

7K!!
avin a larf? lol
Does that include a load of labour costs or something.
Sureley to get a 20v runner you need to spend about 500 on engine and gearbox and 600 ish on management and loom. Then theres the fabrication work. Knock up some pikey driveshafts, anyone on my wavelength yet;)

600 for and vag lump...where from!!?? show me and il buy 10!! for and audi lump and box your looking at anything from 1-2k depending on what version you waant!!

as for the build its self, start adding the mainfold, inlets,cams,pisions,rods,valves,turbos,injectors,intercooler,samcos,ecu,cluctch,flywheel...the list is endless mate!!

if your gonna go for a standard ish spec, youll see around 300hp with a remap, ko4 turbo etc etc, still expect to spend around the 5k mark mate:)

no no, 700 for the engine.
then the next biggest cost is a management and loom setup.
Cash could be saved using mega squirt but then It all gets a bit complex lol :)

I think i might shut up and get saving

I have had the stage 2 kit fitted and it is amazing. My last car was an wvo FQ 340 which I got rid off for finance reasons. I can safely say the Clio is quicker once you get it rolling. I have had a few small issues but generally its great. The ultimate Q car. I am running just over 300 bhp. you do need to be careful with the Gearbox. Go for have some fun. I will post some pics tomorrow.

What makes you say/think a scooby etc would be faster?

exactly my thoughts!! in many cases there not fast at all..........upto 60% loss in transmission for starters:nono:

Yawn...yet more BSD about Transmission loss...60% lol

Not saying the Clio will be slow but Evo/scooby designed as a complete package, engine, transmission, brakes etc. much better balanced and will be more capable A to B due to AWD.

I suspect if you pretty much changed the rest of the parts i.e brakes & transmission on the Clio it would be pretty reliable

Yawn...yet more BSD about Transmission loss...60% lol

60% LOL!

ok before you start laughing do you acctually no how to work out transmision loss!!!

RIGHT on a 4WD car the average transmission loss per 10 bhp is 0.88%

now a evo 9 fq 360 is 366 hp as std!!

to worK the transmisson loss out you add 10 bhp to the 366hp witch is 376hp then dicide that by 0.88%

366
+10
=376%0.88= 42.7% (after all i did say ''UPTO'' 60%)
