Keep fit windows

  Clio 172
Hi
I don't know wether or not this is in the correct section but hay. Does anybody know wether any mk2 Clio was fitted with keep fit windows? And will they fit into a 172 door? Thanks

Surprised, thought it was common knowledge amongst car enthusiasts.

To get back on topic, i don't know, but i have a feeling the ph 1 did, ph 2 didn't

It's exactly the same as non electric. You might have to drill a few new holes in the door skin, but I'm sure it'd be very easy as long as you had a manual window car to match.

It's just a case of finding a mk2 ph1 non sport, ideal an RN or RL model, they should have manual windows, take out the whole window mech (really easy, just a few bolts), take a few photos for reference (as to where the holes were drilled etc) and replicate it.

If you ask member Kerry-W on here, I believe they have manual windows and is currently messing about with the door cards, so may be able to grab you a pic or two.

Chears. What do you recon the chances of a scrap yard having one in is? Is it worth putting Perspex windows in?

i wouldn't unless it's a track only car that's trailered to events

I've built/been involved with cars before with perspex side windows, and yes it's a LOT lighter, but it's also noisy, cold and you lose the windows down function

All IMHO of course

No need to drill any holes. I have manual windows from a poverty spec ph1. Electric motors out, manual winders bolt straight in, dead simple.

It is going to be mainly track but it is going to have some road use. That's what my old fiesta was like the holes were already there. What did you do with the wireing after? Just cut it down? I'll get searching the scrap yard then :)

Just left the wiring in the doors cable tied out of the way. I used winder handles from a renault 5 as I couldn't find any from a Clio, I'm pretty sure you can use the handles from any Renault, probably most cars actually.
