Kenwood d-mask

Iv gone to put my Kenwood d-mask headunit into my 16v 1993 and it wont fit. its tight cos of the RCA cables and the mass of wires but it seems that there is a bit of metal that is stopping it, has ne 1 come across this before if so is there a way round it.

I didnt want to cut it cut and then ruin something, please help

The bit of metal will almost certainly be the guide frame for the HU! Look at the back of the HU and you may find a "nipple" which will fit in a hole in the metal at the back, holding the HU in position!

There is always gonna be a MASS of wires down there im afraid! Persistant poking and pushing is the only way and eventually you will get it right in with all wires hidden away!

Its not a fun job! But take your time and persist and hopefully youll only ever need to do it once!

if its a newer kenwood unit the wiring is lot tidier than before, i found it best to put the ISO on the right and phonos, aerial, remote on the other.
