Key Locking = Useless?

C

Cupster

Had my cup for 3 years now and tried for the first time to lock it via the passenger door by the key itself (Mine only has one lock, 53 plate).

Now, logically, I would expect it to lock both doors by the central locking but no it only locks the passenger door!

Got a bit worried that the central locking wasn't working so I tried the remote and all locked up nice and tight.

WTF!

Do I have a problem, or is this another Renault feature?

I disagree, its not good in any situation because you can never lock the drivers door if the remote CL packs up. Or have I misread your post?

was completely pointless on my old dynamique, its just sets that alram off when you open the door with the key

I only have one on my passenger door and agree it's pointless. One of my fuses wen't and I had no spares so had to leave it unlocked over night.. wasn't worried but it was a complete waste of time locking the passenger door when the drivers door and boot are still open :s

Useful when you go out of the works gate, get out to shut the gate, the car locks itself and you have to run home to get your spare key, leaving your car running in the middle of an industrial estate....

How does it lock itself? Thought it only did that when you go over 4 mph?

  53 Clio's & counting
no mine is the same, if use the key it only locks one door.

oh and guys if your key mucks up, you can lock your car, just climb in, leave whichever door open you have a lock on, press the c/l button in the car, then get out, shut the door, and lock the door with key, job done

I must have confused it. I pulled through the gate, but had the door open as I did it. Then when I shut it, I heard it lock.

My arse went then!

Good job I only work half a mile from home!

Self locking has since been switched off. I'm nore than capable of locking my own doors, Mr Renault....

It's on the passenger's side because in France, that's the drivers side and they couldn't be arsed changing it for over here.

Turn the ignition on and as long as its a renault/cobra fit alarm it'll stop as soon as the immobisiler disarms.

Its only there for when the battery in the key goes flat, to lock the car you lock the other doors with the switch on the dash before getting out (passenger side) and locking the passenger door which won't have locked because its open manually with the key.
