killer clutch on MK1 phase 3

i have a mk1 phase 3 1149 cc SPi 8v clio 96" plate. current millage 75106.since i bourght it the clutch has been hard to judge compared th other cars i have driven and the one i learnt in. from moving off i lift my foot off the clutch slowly to move off slowly and suddernly it bites ur foot off, but doesnt stall the car, just seems a bit suddern. were as corsas for example seem to be quite gradual, is this just a clio thing? or should i be worried? had a friend who had the same problem so just though it was the way it was designed, any input would be appreciated

Mk1 Clios have famously harsh clutches and yes, they do kick back! Just try a 16V or Williams clutch!

SPI on a 1.2 Mk1, Phase3?

Sure it isnt a DIET engine? Mines a Phase3 1.2 and Im sure all of them are the DIET engine.. which they then used in the Mk2 Clios..
