knocking from rear

right guys i have a little problem and trying to sort it is proving to be a pain in the ass.
i recently got my car lowered and since then i have a thuding/bang noise from the rear sounds asif its coming from the boot almost asif something is in the boot and moving. it only happens if im doing low speeds over bumps but if i hit a good dip in a road at 60 nothing. very confusing now.
i know about the exhaust hitting the rear beam but i have hoisted that up temporarily untill my new mounts come. it cant be that as its nearly touching the exhaust recess. and i have seen some clios much lower obviously its not 100% its not that untill i get the new mounts on but im pretty certain now that it isnt.
iv checked the arches for scrubbage and any signs of any contact made and nothing again.
other than that iv checked all the pretty obvious things nothing seems loose nothing laying around my car.
if anyone has had the same or similar problems any help would be appreciated alot thankyou.

right had a proper look today and im baffled fuel tank is sturdy everything looks good and feels alright underneath the car. new exhaust mounts where fitted today and the noise is still there!!
its got to be something to do with lowering it or the fact the car is stiffer as its only started to happen since i lowered the car. i feel like iv tried practically everything now. any more suggestions? nobody else had anything like this before after lowering there car? thanks Adam

I have exactly the same on my rear left, I also have vmaxx coilovers,

I raised them up a bit, and since then over bumps at very low speed a clunck but notthing over speed bumps at higher speeds.

I have checked all the bushes and for signs of rubbing but nothing,

I had someone take a look last week when i had my camber done and he said it could be the spring, where it is compressed at the top mine looked like when it hits a bump at low speed the spring could be alomost overlapping and cluncking together,

I'll be interested to see if you find a solution mate.

nope isnt the heatshield mate checked that. dont think its the springs catching either. it sounds asif the parcel shelf is boucing up and down but it still does it when iv took it out :S

I had the same problem on the 182 after lowering. Mine turned out to be the boot floor creaking and also the rear arch liners being loose after the mounting screws had rusted away. Worth having a check to see if the rear liners are loose in the slightest because they made a huge noise over low speed bumps.

rear liners where loose so i sorted that and the problem didnt go away. went and had the geometry set up today and he metioned before i even asked that the rear springs are very compressed so its understandable that they might rub each other when hitting a bump. although i would have thought if that was the case it would do it at any speed :S ahh well for now im going to leave it and possibly get some rear springs made up. nothing is loose etc and it isnt the exhaust thanks for the help though guys

I've got the same problem , if you load up the boot the noise goes, I suspect it's the shocks making noise.

Unbolt the rear shocks at the base and then drive VERY slowly with a mate in the boot and see if noise has disapeared.

I'm running spax RSX coilovers and the noise is evident even thou it's a new kit

I can hear an odd noise from the rear of my car nothing im worried about as the car handles fine but on inspection the only thing that raises an eyebrow is how easily the rear arch liners make a noise when i kick the rear bumper.. not sure if the two noises are related mind :p

This sounds exceptionally safe and legal. I advise you do not do this.

I keep getting a rattling from mine on the motorway 60/70 - when I am cruising or off throttle. The noise goes away when I either accelerate, go over a bump, or have a full tank/rear passenger. I've had a good look around, checked everthing is tight and in the right order and I think the problem is the metal cup that sits on the underside of the topmount rattling against the shell when the shock is not under much load or relaxed. So I've stuck some felt-like material between to see if this cures or at least dulls the noise, then I know what the issue is.

Can't drive the car till Friday, so we'll see if that's cured it.

Did you find out what the problem was? I got v maxx coilovers put on about a month ago and there is a banging noise which sound like its coming from the back left hand side. Checked everything but can't find what the problem is

have you guys got your rear springs pointing the same way, banderson on here found out to have the same problem and moved his springs so the bottom on the spring. where it starts/ends is pointing to the other wheel on the back and vice versa, if that makes sense. i have vmaxx and don't have this problem. but mine is how i just explained

I think it had something to do with the springs mate.

Ended up crashing the car so never found out. Sorry.
