Knocking on full lock

I know this has been asked many times before but as it didnt concern me then, i didnt bother reading. iv searched and cant find any thing on it any more but..

My car makes a rather loud knocking noise, sometimes 2 knocks straight after each other when i have the car at full lock.

can any1 tell me what this is?
how to fix it?
is it dangerous?

any help is appreciated.

Sounds like the strut top mounts rubbing on the metal body work, there are two fixes, 1 is to buy some special washers from renault to put under the top mouting up (which are very expensive!) or to grind away part of the hole where the shocker comes through under the top cup. (believe it or not, this is the way renault say to do it!)

Something a little more detailed will be better, like a die grinder or a file.

This is a common clio fault though right? Mine had done it ever since i drove it off the forecourt...

Mine did a rhythmic knock, knock, knock (when I moved quicker the knock got quicker.)

The exact same thing was happening to me so i took it to the garage and they said that it was just what clios sounded like!!

yeah must be a clio thing mine does it too, and it creaks when i go over bumps lol

yer thats exactly what mine does. not so much in hard cornering, but parking up yer.

guess its no major issue tho considering alot of people complain of the same thing...

mine did if for a year before i p/x it. if it gets worse maybe worry. mine didnt
