After a couple of posts I've made here and there on people's threads blaming a recently fitted upper engine mount, it turned out I was blaming the wrong thing lol.
I knew the centre exhaust mount was tired when I fitted my exhaust but I left it thinking it wasn't overly important. Anyway I finally got a replacement mount today and fitted and to my surprise the knocking noise has gone.
The strange thing is the noise was exactly the same when I had a worn out engine mount. That fast bang, bang bang under hard acceleration in 1st and 2nd, seen it described "like a machine gun" on here before.
