Knocking when accelerating

Had my car since wednesday and i love it to bits.Its worlds apart from my old car (rover 25).The car itself it mint in every way apart from when i put my put down in first gear and it breaks traction there is a loud knocking/clunking coming from the front.

Is this anything serious and can anything be done to stop it because its really worring me!

172 I assume? Your knocking is "standard" on 172s ... lots of discussion around on the forums about it, and indeed was pinned item for a long time collecting names of people to get Renault to take some notice. Do a search and youll find out all the gruesome details

Yeah sorry forgot to mention it was a phase 2 02 172 with 18k on.

Will it do any harm to the car and is there anyway it can be sorted?

Also im looking at getting some toyo ts-1s for £40 each are they good for the 172 or are goodyear gsd3s worth the extra ££££?

It can be the exhaust manifold, engine mounts or loss of traction axle tramp wheelspin etc. Its very common in 172s and as long as you can put up with it nothing to worry about. Try not hammering it in first but change at about 4k then rag it in 2nd etc.
