KTEC Coilys!!

Hi everyone, Im looking to get some Ktec coil-overs as reviews seem good and price is great! but they only drop to 45mm on the rear, and I want my clio to scrap if it hits a leaf!
So ive heard people getting the Ktec coilys then buying lowering spring for the rear again! and getting it dropped to 100mm or so.
Anyone got some insight on experience or just general knowledge

if you want even lower look at getting airbags

If just going low any cheap s**t will do but dropping it on its bump stops its not going to be pretty.

Change them everyday you drive out depending on how your feeling?

ok, some people think and like completely different things like before I was gunna get a 172 I was going to get a S14a,
And its rare that you see a low as balls Clio and with the plans I got for it,
People saying Ktec coilys are amazing for the price and would still buy if they were £400 so thats why they gone to the top of the list.
And like I said not 100% every day will it be stupid low, like week days I work 22 miles from my home, so weekends I just like to have it different

2 years ago KTec Coilovers wouldn't of been recommended, mainly because they were called Raceland and KTec stuck their badge on and upped the price. They're a budget coilover for going low, your suspension will still be soft so will have constant bumping and rubbing,

I've been in a car on ktec/ race lands wound down with the rear adjusters out.

Best way to ruin a Clio. Handles s**t and is a nasty ride.

Not spring just adjust the height on the coilovers but instead of having the ktec back springs, ill put the custom ones on, so they can go from like 30mm all the way to like 80-90mm,
I just wanted to see if anyones done it before,

And Ill have another look into ktec then cos i love the feeling of stiff suspension,

to everyone that thinks is this kid retarded then well ish... but im new to any sort of modding, had a clio 1.2, then a corsa 1.2 and this 172 is the only car im actually spending money on!

Springs stay the same, you just adjust the spring seats.

It'll be soft as s**t, you need some decent Coilovers. I've got some FK's for sale, £450

Sits perfectly.

No good putting stiff springs on the ktec coilovers, its the damping thats soft. I know, i have them!

But wouldn't adjusting the height regularly alter the realignment again and wear your tyres out quicker....

I did see the FK's online but not many reviews about them, are the stiff too?

Probably mentioned but K-tecs suspension is Raceland's rebranded. They're not that bad for 300 quid, but too soft for track work and rather crashy as you'd expect for bottom of the market. You could do a lot worse for 300 though in all honesty, but try and up your budget a bit!

Not really thinking about going on a track with the car, so Does it have any Body roll with the ktec suspension? If so then ill put more money in

haha, well thats the thing about me I like feeling bumps and stuff in the road, I drove a silvia S14 and was so stiff suspension I felt everything, and loved it ever since haha

Surely the cheapest way and with the koni's you shouldn't ruin them with going so low. As for the ride and handling it will be terrible and very unpredictable with it so low, but if you are okay with that and like the look then there you go.

If your planning on changing the height all the time you do know it will make your toe setting go way out giving you all sorts of problems. Best thing is just leave it set to one height. Or get air bags as said. Trust me your soon get fed up changing your height every week.

as said as well if you go mega low on Ktr coilovers you will get loads of rubbing as their too soft.

Your best bet would be to get some damper adjustable coilovers like konig or Spax coilovers as you can adjust how stiff they are. That way you can go stupidly stiff, go mega low and not get rubbing.

I want to be able to adjust the ride height, is it possible with the koni Dampers?
Ill go to a decent height so Its still decent, thats why im thinking coilovers cos you can change them so its predictable and living in bridgend there are speed bumps erywhere! so thats why I want to change it weekly and stuff, so much effort

There are many different types of 'cheap' coilovers on Fleabay if you just want to sit it as low as poss may be worth having a look

IMO of course its a waste on whats a good car already, 45mm on the k-tec coilovers will still give you a low ride, if you go to low you will not be able to take passenger's ect

Yes, you do get some rubbing on full lock and a country road full of bumps and potholes is going to be a rollercoaster even if you do like to feel the road!

Would I get them again? I might be tempted to go for the Spax setup or similar for more comfort and drive through the mountains, instead of bounce like Tigger - ironic I know!
