anyone thinking of getting this? iam seriously looking into this right now. ktec rekon 179bhp from this ? giving 7bhp more (seems about right). is that including the sports cat aswell? or do you have to replace that anyway with this system??

You wont have to replace your catalytic convertr if you dont want to. this system will bolt straight onto the cat.

7 bhp is without the sports cat, and refers to the fitting of the cat-back system alone.

you would probably get more than an extra 7 if the viper AND exhaust were on at the same time....

7bhp increase sounds a lot to me for no de-cat!

im really lookin at gettin 1 othese. any1 heard how loud they are yet?

a viper should give you more than 7 on its own. with the exhaust fitted + viper without decat you shoud be looking at 10, and with a decat 12-15.

a viper gives a 172 bout 1-2 bhp i an others witnessed this on my car! Torque was the major improvement.

a backbox not a lot an a de-cat 5-7bhp Dependin on back box used!

Used as a combination you may see an overall increase of nearer 10 but individually only the de-cat will show noticable gains! IMHO

silver, we aint talking about just back box dude. its centre section aswell. free flowing centre section is where all power increases come from on a stainless system.

p.s. wot torque improvement was u getting from the Viper. just interested cos i got one on mine.

by back box i mean cat back! Its the cat that is the major restriction in modern exhaust systems.

I spoke to David @ k-tec earlier this week, he said it will be same noise as all other recent systems except slightly less boomy especially on motorway, they are currently making some slight mods on the middle section silencer and plan to have them in stock to sell in about 3 wks, i definitely plan to get one, i like the stealth of it

not sure, forgot to ask, i just said to david that id ring back in about 2-3 wks for an update, he said they have the unfinished version on their demo car an theyre really pleased with it (not like hes gonna say they arent) but credit to them, they originally said it would be out mid feb but they wanna sort out the boomy-ness issue by altering the middle silencer before it goes into production, he said it sounds well throaty on throttle, like the std zorst you wont see a thing as its tucked up behind the bumper, am 95% sure this is the one for me !!!

I spoke with David on Friday re. the sports cat and cat back hidden system. He was quite happy for me to send an email as a kind of pre-order... Only problem is that weve got to wait a month!!

Anyone had a quote for the fitting?? Could do it myself, cat back is in two pieces, this means it will fit in the car when I pick them up.

Wasnt the 7bhp for the sports cat Viper and SS system on the Janspeed RR?

i thought the sports cat gives you 7 bhp and there exhausts give about 3 bhp.thats what david said in an e-mail he sent me a while ago.

The K-Tec 172 will have been RRd with all the mods I presume.

Maybe the 7bhp was ascertained from the before and after RRs?? Hope so!!
