ktec pricing and exhaust question

hi guys sorry to say this but why is ktec so expensive it seems to me that there price before vat is what you would elsewhere then they add 17.5% on i have never used ktec but of course have heard great things about them through this forum but just wondered why they are so expensive do they offer a club discount for items?

also is the sport cat they sell the janspeed one? are they exactly the same because if so theirs is nearly £100 over the price i can get a janspeed one for?

anyway not slating ktec so please dont take me the wrong way on this!!

cheers

Ktec is a bit pricey for some things but good for other things... for example sports cat is overpriced but KW suspension seems cheap, best thing to do is shop around.... thing to keep in mind is if your a CS member you get 5% off.

I bought the Janspeed sports cat and it looks exactly the same as the sports cat on ktecs website so I would say they are the same thing!

cheers guys thanks for that i thought it was the janspeed one i have also heard the exhausts are a bit pants so is it 5% of everything then? that is probably why his prices are hi so our discount does not affect his profits he he only joking

I've drawn a conclusion from the posts on here that Ktec exhausts are f**king pony.

I think they're pony if they're not fitted properly, I bought a ktec stealth and had it fitted by Mark Fish and I'm well impressed. Although he did have to get the angle grinder out and welding kit to get a perfect fit!

  Turbos.
At the end of the day they are bad because considering they are supposed to be specfically made for the car, and its not like they don't sell enough, they shouldn't need to be cut down and fitted properly!

Personally i think they should switch suppliers from Tiger to someone else.

Bad design, but a good quality exhaust according to Mark. In fairness, the welding was for the cat which he temporarily patched up, but the exhaust did need a fair bit of filing down to get a decent fit. I'm well impressed with it though, sounds very nice.

Fair enough but I'm happy with the K-tec Stealth I brought...it's way, way better than the Magnex I had before.

The sports cat is expensive...I brought my Janspeed one form Demon Tweeks for under £3000 which I don't think was too bad.

I think because there is a lack of Renault specialists/tuners around they do price some items high as they can get the sales. I've used them quite a few times though and have been happy with the products and service:D

There just off the top of my head, im sure theres a few more!
K-Tec mainly aim for the airfix brigade............hence the quality dosent need to be all that as its more show then go:rolleyes:

I never mentioned the prices - It wasn't a slight on the company either - I've had no dealings with them but, as I said above, from the threads I've seen on here regarding their Stealth system I fail to see why you should have to pay for an off the shelf exhaust and then have to pay someone to custom fit it to your car!

Most of the people you mention above don't actually manufacture their own systems, and unless you've had an exhaust go and you want to keep the car looking original, then a Ktec stealth system is the only option, unless you want pipes hanging out the back.

As for Ktec being for the 'airfix' brigade, I think you're missing the point. My exhaust was delivered to Mark Fish within two days of ordering it, who even commented that I would have paid about £600 for a custom system of the same quality, so paying £50 to have it professionally fitted seemed a bit of a bargain.

Angelworks will have, but i've been told it might be early next decade ;)

Do they actually hand craft them or buy them in and call them there own?

Im sure Andy could fit H&S/Magnex exhausts with GDi stickers plastered everywhere

They design the exhaust and have it manufactured for them I believe.
I take it with H&S you mean Hayward & Scott? The professional hand made custom people? A little bit different to Magnex, which I believe Andy does sell.

would a 182 manifold sports cat and ktec system be a good set up for sound quality reliability and bhp increase cheers that would cost nearly 1000 bloody hell!!!

  Turbos.
Yeah not an easy job by the sounds of it, i was going to get the manifold but the labour charges are like buying another major mod!

Still f**k all tuners/suppliers than what I was used to when I owned a Japanese car.

Airfix brigade?...okay, their stuff may not be up to the standard of say Hayward & Scott but until someone makes a full exhaust out of titanium people are just splitting hairs.

BBtuning and Yozzasport definatley make their own

Yozzasports are hand made by a company that does several BTCC, WRC and now ex F1 (due to the new carbon fibre systems coming out replacing the inconel systems)

let me know when the other exhaust manufactures catch up ;)

(oh shed motorsport's BTB is very nice, i was impressed)
