KTR Stealth Systems, Phase 1...

Im looking to change my exhaust, possibly to the Stealth system that KTR offer for my Phase 1 172.

What are the main differences between the "Super Sport" which is £286.35

And the slightly dearer "Stealth System Mk2" at £343.85 ???

And also, do they come with the mounts that ill ned to fit it or what? It isnt very clear on what it comes with>?

Also has anyone fitted this exhaust to a Phase 1? Do you rate it?

Regards, Dan

The yozza stealth is quieter than the ktec stealth. It doesn't fit very well, and it sounds crap.

Danny, super sport will be louder.

Alot of the stealths seem to have build quality issues. I'd avoid for now...

The GF has a MK1 stealth on her 172... perfect fit, apart from when cold the back box would slightly knock on the rear suspension spring!

I simply extended the rear hanger by 1"... Done :D and they do sound "just right"

I have the stealth system on my Ph1 and it sounds awesome and i still have the cat in.... im sure Tupps will comment, makes a lovely deep grumble and the sound from inside the car i feel is mint...... not chavvy either...

Sorry, but this is the first we have heard of any issues. We have never had a problem with fitment (apart from garages not fitting them correctly) or any issues with the sound. They are a marked improvement over the earlier ph 1 stealth but the overall design is still pretty much the same.

David...I've got nothing but good things to say about K-tec...(as you well know) That said the ph1 was a less problematic system...No failed centre sections and the note (Preference) was alot nicer... Also imo having fitted both systems the ph1 was the better fitting system! I spend ages fitting mine 100% and had NO problems!

Its OK, I have no problem with your comments, all feedback is welcomed :rasp:

Bar the first batch of mk2 centre section that were made a few years ago we have had very few problems with the new stealth system, we had many more issues with the mk1 version, hence the need to change manufacturer.

We have always found the fitting of the latest system very, very easy and the sound is one thing most people comment on and enjoy. We have no plans to change the mk2 system as we are very happy with it. Admittedly you are always going to get the odd issue occur but these are always sorted out under warranty with a brand new repalcement part. Thankfully these are few and far between and on a percentage basis our stealth system is the best performing and most well received. :)

Im guessing your compaing Yozza road system vs Ktec stealth when you say this?

Slighly unfair comparison as leaving aside the versus noise the Yozza road has a smaller bore back box i belive so it ''might'' be quieter but you'll lose power for it.

For a like for like 2.5 comparison you'd have to go Yozza race and reading the history quiet it certainly isnt. Proabably the loudest exahust system on the market !?! (Yozza)

I bought a Ktec system, the 2nd generation, after no other exhaust met my requirements of the sliding front clamp piece. Have a 182 main conversion and didnt want to have to start welding and messing about again to mate with the link pipe.

Was a bit worried about the rasping thing id read a few comments on but i can report that hasnt happend probably down to having a silenced decat, the fit is miles better than the old Magnex it replaced and ten times quieter. I can have a convo without having to shout and no droning at mid range either.
Performace felt better two, probably down to the weight vs the Magnex lol

Fit is spot on although i fitted it myself so i know its been done right and not some quick cowboy job plus i replaced all the clamps at the same time.

All in all i can highly recommend it from my experience

I fitted a Stealth Mk2 last weekend. It fits absolutely perfectly and didn't require much adjustment to get it sitting right. It sits nice and high, doesn't touch the car anywhere, doesn't knock on anything.

I don't think the sound is much louder than normal - a little bit more rumble when you're on the power, but no significant increase in noise when cruising at 70, which is exactly what I wanted.

Can't comment on the Mk1 or on any build quality issues - but mine is absolutely fine and an easy DIY install...

centre sections were a joke at one point tbh. The blokes company that made them wasnt the sharpest in the tool box either! k-tec service was good though

Anyone know what the difference is between the normal and supersport version?

The Sports version is the standard spec version we have been selling for years and this has a centre silencer, as well as the rear silencer. The Supersports version is a louder version as we do away with the centre silencer. This also makes the cheaper to produce.

Does this mean that the centre box could be bought seperately and fitted at a later date if the client wasn't happy with the supersport noise.

Also I don't mean to have a go at ktec or anything but the one ktec stealth (wihout centre boc) I have heard on a 172 sounded great in the car but from the outside it sounded "hollow", several people there made the same comment. The car also still had the cat in.

Is this a fitting issue or is this the normal noise of the supersport system?
