Is it just me, or in the first video does Kubica seem to show him a lot more respect once he realises Misha's Russian?

Different drivers in different cars will have different lines. All depends on the car really. Aero, mechanical grip and braking performance will all be a factor.

Trackday instructors are mostly there to tell you the safest line and to get you driving smoothly. This usually makes you quicker if before you were say erratic with the steering.

Very true. I know my braking into corners and gear selection was very erratic when I first started on track.

But after some proper tuition I seem to have ironed it out a bit

I have the utmost respect for the people that learn the Nurburgring corner for corner.

It seems like people are at crossed purposes here. If the question is,

What's more exciting:
a) An 8:00 lap at 100%
or
b) A 7:00 lap at 80%
(different cars obviously)

then it's surely going to vary from person to person, no?

I did the v10 m5 ring lap with 2 mates and Sabine. We drifted literally f**king EVERYWHERE and I was hanging my head out the back window ready to barf (shockingly bad as a passenger! 😂). But she kept her foot in and was laughing at me trying to throw up lol! Went sub 8 with Sabine.

We booked Sabine and got BMW’s head of grip. “Hi, welcome. What type of lap would you like, fast or sideways?” Mega experience :). Chatting a way while hooning the M5 around :).

Bit gutted with my time and driving last trip. Plenty more to come from the mighty 182 :). Lots of excuses! Need to update the build thread.

Re: Kubica’s lap, the level of car control is insane. As other’s have said, it’s not a quick lap. Relatively speaking. But it’s an epic display of skill!
