KW Damper repairs

  182
I am looking for some advice, i have recently bought some KW V2 coilovers, second hand. When i apply pressure to the damper the piston just goes in and stays in!!! Now correct me if i am wrong but doesnt this mean it is useless?!

Now i am no expert, but i have heard that you can get dampers re-valved (Repaired) Does anybody know how much this costs? is it worth it? Is this usually a specialist job?

It looks like they are going to have to be sent away!

Some dampers are configured that way, your dampers are probably one way adjustable (bump) so the rebound is pre set, remember that once they are fitted the spring will try to fully extend the piston instantly at the same rate as the spring returns to it's pre compressed length. The rebound (normally pre set on cheaper dampers) will then control this and stop the car bouncing, hence increasing tyre contact with the road surface (Grip)

Just fit them you'll be fine ;)

Its when fluid runs down the leg you want to worry.

Getting them revalved would alter its dampening settings as in when the ASTs use the stiffer springs there revalved to match

No, they aren't. I had both spring options on the ast's. They weren't revalved.

  Dodgy one
I thought the ASTs were fully adjustable rebound, damping the works? Therefore they wouldnt need revalving, just tweak the damping on the shock which will adjust the valves internally, restricting and opening for the oil to flow :S
