Lacquer scratches..

  Mustang, S13, AX GT
I washed a car for the 1st time since FCS '08 today, and it seems I've lost my wash mitt so I did it with a sponge. I instantly regret this as the sponge had some grit caught in it or something so I've now got some lacquer scratches in my bonnet. Will T-cut* fix it or do I need some-one with a PC?

*Only so many T-Cut jokes allowed, please mark if you are saying T-Cut as a serious answer. Kthanx

  Better than yours. C*nt.
As much as I hate to say it, T-Cut, AutoGlym Paint Restorer, Meguiars Scratch-X or anything like that is your best real hope unless you have access to a machine polisher.

And you'd better be very, very lucky. I've seen grit-scratches that needed wetsanding out.

wetsanding I could try but I'm not that confident with it on a car I care about. I'll give T-Cut a try on my sh*tty halford polisher.

Cheers Mike.

OOooo no! Not on a polisher!

By hand. And AG Paint Restorer and Scratch-X are a better shout as they break down, IIRC T-Cut doesn't so it never turns into a 'finishing' polish as you work it in.

Try scratch X mate, has quite good results tbh.

If you end up needing to wet sand, just remeber to keep it soaking wet, with a very fine paper.

Ignis is too expensive to have one like my old 1 Hazza so its not happening haha. Ok well I get paid on Friday so I'll get some Scratch-X and give it a go. After I've used that should I give it a coat with some polish ie SRP or will it be ok? I ask because I'm lazy but if I do something it has to be done right, so if it needs polish then I'll have to do the whole car in SRP then EGP lol.

I'm not sure about using a brillo pad on paintwork tbh.
