Lacquering RS grill?

  G51 BEN
what are peoples opinions on this?
personally i think it could look pretty good and smarten the car up a bit.
has anybody done this?
its just that ive found 2 cans of lacquer and i am considering it

  G51 BEN
i was thinking that myself. but it may look decent. i dont want to try incase it goes wrong.... unless somebody says "it will look good. here is a pic of mine" lol

i sprayed mine satin black then laquer.. then you dont have to mess around with the back to black crap

not much difference really, i was going to go for gloss black but i thought the front end would be too shiny black.. just kept it matt/satin looking without the hassel of it fading/turning grey..

i am planning to do this..

anyone been successful?

pics :D

have you actually read the thread?

if you want to laquer it just give it a good clean then get the laquer out, what so hard about that? just spray a few coats until its shiny... but it'd look crap. stick to matt black aerosol, or if you stil persist on the shiny look get the gloss black

Sprayed my saxo grill. It was faded quite badly and ag bumper care wouldnt get it back to life so i just gave it a quick rub down with 800 then 1200. Primer. 1200 again then satin black paint from halfords.

Looks much better now and will not fade.:)

I don't want to burst anyones bubble.

But wouldn't a painted or lacquered grill be prone to bad stonechips ?

just do it however you feel. when i do mine im just gonna go with what i feel like on the day!

My feeling is the right way!

Plastic primer, sand it down, basecoat Black, 2K Clear (be it High Gloss or 'Eggshell').

^^^ thats what mine looked like. looks good because its not coated loads in laquer making it look cheap.
