LAD Conversation

Just been out for lunch, and what was in the pub carpark? A Blue, LAD conversion MK1 172. Dont much like the alloys, are they part of the package? Couldnt see the owner to ask about the work.......

Sorry to say it but Hill powers conversion (PGTIJan/Feb 03 didnt exactly set the world alight with induction kit,stage 1 chip powerflow exhaust mailto:145bhp@6682rpm">145bhp@6682rpm vs standard mk1 with magnex mailto:151bhp@6788rpm">151bhp@6788rpm.... spose every cars different though.

Seems to me these 172s/cups are very hard to modify!!

To be fair though the 172s do tend to vary on power output. What counts is before and after tests, best done on the same rr to get a fair result.

At least hillpower got a car within 50 miles of a rolling road! Rolling roads are like kryptonite to LAD lol

Didnt HillPower rebuild a LAD customers 172 engine after it failed spectaculaly!
 


have any of you had a LAD conversion yet?

you sure do hate their work considering youve never even sampled it :p

ive heard the stories but i wont pas judgement til ive seen it for myself, if youve not seen it why dont you find a car with their work on it and THEN judge :p
 


Well, Ive sampled a saxo one and its f**king sh*te!

My brother is running 159bhp in his Saxo VTS (tuned by GMC) and met up with a lad who had a LAD 160 conversion done on his VTS.

You should have seen the look on this guys face, he wasnt particularly happy with the so called 40 bhp increase on his, but after he saw how quick a supposidly less powerful VTS went, he was absolutely gutted!

Its taken these other so called Renault tuning companys a long time to come up with a reliable 200bhp. Four years on and Im still waiting.

Like Ive said on another page, you dont have a Renault main dealer selling your product for nothing!!!!

And as for the performance figures being slower than a standard 172 (for the LAD cup) If you read CCC mag Sept03 it says "grunt certainly wasnt a problem for the little Clio easily overwhelming the traction from its front Contis during a 0-60 dash HAMPERED BY WHEELSPIN" "It was the only car that cherped its tyres in SECOND and THIRD gears under acceleration"
 


its not that they have taken their time getting 200bhp. 200bhp is easy.....its just none of you are prepared to pay for it. Thus its only come along with the well designed 172.

agree Ben, its a LOT harder to achieve this than is generally accepted...

even on a 5 GTT people dont realise how difficult it is to achieve non MAX power figures.... reliably!!!!
